The album reached No4 on the album charts in the UK No 7 in Australia and No 10 in the United States.

This album went on to become their must successful release, with ten tracks in total it spawned four singles. The band was started by Mike Rutherford as a side project while Genesis was on a break. They have since gone on to release nine studio albums in total.

Nowadays the album is considered groundbreaking and one of the most influential rock albums ever recorded. Rolling Stone Magazine placed it at No 13 on their list of greatest Albums of all time.
